Calanit Amir
Biography
Calanit joined PMHP Law in 2023. Her practice focuses primarily on nursing home litigation, auto accidents and personal injury cases. Prior to joining PMHP Law Calanit was defense attorney for the past 20 years, most recently as House Counsel III at Progressive Insurance Co. During this time, she always felt that she should be representing plaintiffs/claimants, but the timing and circumstances never lined up. Over the years, Calanit was a Board Member of Progressive’s National ERG and Parent Connect, helping employee caregivers, parents and guardians navigate various challenges of a family’s stages of life, while simultaneously staying engaged and productive at work. She was also active in promoting diversity and inclusion at Progressive and mentoring fellow attorneys.
Prior to joining Progressive, Calanit was the Executive Director of Kool Kids, Inc. (now F.O.C.U.S.), a state wide organization that promotes inclusivity, programming and support for families of children with special needs. Calanit is a volunteer with Parent to Parent, Atlanta Track Club, Northside’s NICU, Together For Families and several other organizations. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and Boxer, Milly. She also enjoys running, hiking, traveling, trying new restaurants and going to concerts.
Calanit says, “I believe I can bring a new perspective to the table due to my extensive experience in defense work, by allowing me to understand both sides. I am happy to finally switch gears and represent those who have suffered personal injuries and have been wronged by the institutions and caregivers meant to maintain their quality of life and dignity.
